ALOHA TO THE WORLD
Global Aloha is a Hawaiʻi-born movement inspiring people everywhere to put aloha into action through storytelling, education, experiences and community programs. Global Aloha brings the values of aloha to life through stories, education, experiences, community programs and simple actions anyone, anywhere can practice.

Born from the success of Project Shaka and the award-winning documentary SHAKA, A Story of Aloha—WATCH NOW: Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango, Kanopy, Google Play, YouTube Movies–the movement grew from exploring the meaning behind one of Hawaiʻi’s most recognized gestures into a larger mission: sharing the values behind aloha with the world.

Our films also include THE 100TH, Seeds of Aloha, which explores how Hawaiʻi’s 100th/442nd soldiers carried values of courage, sacrifice, service and aloha through war and planted seeds that continue to flourish generations later.

You don’t have to live in Hawaiʻi to live with aloha.

OUR STORY
It started with a shaka.

Filmmaker and storyteller Steve Sue set out to discover the origins and meaning of Hawaiʻi’s famous hand gesture. That journey became SHAKA, A Story of Aloha and inspired Project Shaka—a Hawaiʻi movement that helped bring about the Shaka License Plate, educational and community programs, and the designation of the Official Hawaiʻi State Shaka Gesture.

Along the way, something larger became clear:  The shaka was the symbol. Aloha was the bigger idea.

Project Shaka became the Hawaiʻi pilot for what is now Global Aloha—taking values rooted in Hawaiʻi and sharing them through stories and actions that can make a difference anywhere in the world.

To Global Aloha, aloha is more than a greeting. It is a way of living.

Our values encourage kindness, respect, connection, courage, service, responsibility and care—for ourselves, one another, our communities and our planet.

We believe aloha becomes most powerful when it moves beyond words and becomes action.
